Tip Toe Through The Tulips – pattern tester

When Allison asked me if I wanna be her pattern tester for her „Tip Toe Through The Tulips„-pattern again, I really felt honored. I already thought about throwing myself into the pool of potential testers. The only reason I hesitated was my concern about the time given until the finish.

In fact I needed only half the time she gave me and sewing this table cloth was real fun. I was very proud to share my first sewed curve without any creases on Instagram.

Because this kind of pattern is – let’s say – unusual for me, I directly asked Allison if it would bother her when I cut the pattern into a triangle. Gladly she was fine with this kind of transformation.

My first attempt was to make a long table runner with three of the triangle tulips. But while sewing I changed my mind and out came this square table cloth.

The shape of the leaves is not present, because of the all-white fabric. Therefore I had to work out the shape with a green thread and some quilting.

One thing I am proud of is the solution I found for the circles. I already wanted to apply them with my Heat-n-Bond ultra hold foil. But then I tried to cut the circles by my silhouette cutter after ironing them on the foil. It worked perfectly and they were more even then I could ever have done it by hand.

After this, I just wanted a simple machine quilting in the middle of the table cloth to fix it to the back. I prepared a template and marked the even waves onto the fabric. Then started in the very middle and used free motion quilting to get this done.

For the whole table cloth I used 2 yard of moda Grunge Basics Blue and half a yard of moda Grunge Basics Essence. And an old but beautiful damask curtain for the back.
